Advanced mobile information system for emergency health, fire and environmental protection interventions through the deployment of drone fleets
Although the use of remotely piloted air vehicles represents an unquestionable innovation in certain sectors, current combination “drone + remote control” is still not an effective solution (despite countless attempts) in other very important fields such as: health emergencies, environmental protection, needs assessment, fires, rescues in areas without coverage, search for people, floods, etc. where attempts to introduce drone operations have failed to meet initial expectations.

Current systems focus the added value on improving data collection operations without taking into account, for example, the urgency of data collection and analysis, distribution of information, relocation of the different actors, decision making and response times. These shortcomings in the drone sector represent a great challenge for technological development and a business opportunity, as they are demanded by many public and private organizations.

Thus, the general objective of the MESSEO project is the development of a Mobile Advanced Intervention Unit (U.M.I.A) for the management of drones and other on-board information devices.

The design of the U.M.I.A. with extended communication capabilities will be adapted to house a command and control centre inside it, which will allow management and control of the drone fleet and rest of the sensors during the execution of operations in areas with existing network coverage (4G), as well as in remote areas where coverage is non-existent or non-existent by creating its own communication bubbles, thus extending the scope of action to the maximum possible territory.

An incentive of 347,178.32 euros has been received from the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia IDEA, of the Government of Andalusia, co-financed in 80% by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF, for the implementation of the MESSEO project with the aim of "Promoting technological development, innovation and quality research".
